Saturday`s Division One Central Round-Up

Bedford Town`s lead at the top of the Pitching In Southern League Division One Central table was cut to two points after they had their game at Kidlington abandoned at half-time on Saturday.

With the Eagles leading 1-0, the home side refused to come back out of the dressing room after the break following an altercation as the players went off with the police involved.

Things gave tightened up behind them now as all the chasing pack won.

Berkhamsted were 2-1 winners at Broadwater against seventh-placed and in-form Thame United.

After a goalless opening half, James Verney broke the deadlock to give Berko a 69th-minute lead.

Reece Robins eventually added a second a minute into stoppage time, with the Red Kites getting a consolation 2 minutes later from Andy Gledhill.

AFC Dunstable are three points behind the Comrades after a 3-0 success at The Eyrie against another form side, Biggleswade FC.

It was top marksman BJ Christie once more who did the damage, opening the scoring after 20 minutes and then adding a second 6 minutes later from the penalty spot after Kieran Hamilton had been brought down.

It was Hamilton who made it 3-0 on 69 minutes, although AFC finished with ten-men when Ryan Frater was dismissed for use of the elbow.

Welwyn Garden City are fourth, five points behind AFC Dunstable but with two games in hand, after beating Didcot Town 2-0 at The Utilita Stadium.

Goals in either half from Jon Clements after 36 minutes and David Keenleyside on 70 minutes sealed the Citizens` victory.

Ware beat out-of-sorts Aylesbury United 5-2 at Wodson Park and are fifth, a point behind Welwyn Garden City.

Three goals in the opening 22 minutes from Leigh Rose, Liam Hope and Josh Williams gave the hosts a great platform.

But the Ducks battled hard and it wasn`t until the 75th minute that Hope bagged his second and Ware`s fourth from the penalty spot.

Tyron Lewthwaite on 82 minutes and Ezra Forde on n90 minutes pulled two back before Taufee Skandari made it a nap hand for the hosts 5 minutes into time added on.

North Leigh are sixth and only a point outside the top five after a 2-1 win at Capershotts against Waltham Abbey.

The Abbots led at the break through a 33rd minute Richard Asamoah effort.

But Roger James levelled on 51 minutes and Chris Francis added a second 5 minutes later to earn the Millers` win.

FC Romania were the day`s biggest winners, 6-1 at Theobalds Lane against bottom side Colney Heath.

Indeed, Heath and second-from-bottom Wantage Town, who lost 2-1 at Alfredian Park to St Neots Town, are really being cut adrift now, being ten points behind third-from-bottom Hertford Town.

It was only 1-0 at half-time to FC Romania, courtesy of a goal right on the whistle from Kevin Krans.

But Tobi Coker on 58 minutes and then braces from Chide Onokwai on 65 and 86 minutes and Zenon Stylianides in the 78th and 90th minutes hit Heath for six, although George Devine did manage to squeeze in a 68th-minute consolation.

Nehemiah Richard-Noel gave St Neots a 26th minute lead at Wantage.

Jamal Branker equalised 7 minutes after half-time, only for Lee Watkins to win it for the Saints 4 minutes from time.

Hertford were beaten by the odd goal in five at Hertingfordbury Park by Barton Rovers.

A `game of two halves saw the hosts lead 2-0 at the break through Ben Weyman after 3 minutes and Jake Bunyan after 32 minutes.

Kai Phelan reduced the deficit 15 minutes from time and then Urijah Gordon-Douglas on 80 minutes and Martel Powell in stoppage time turned the game in Rovers` favour.

Kempston Rovers moved up to 16th after an important 3-1 win at the Arena against ninth-placed Harlow Town.

After a goalless first half, it was the Walnut Boys who broke the deadlock 3 minutes into the second half through Luke Massingham and 5 minutes later, Miguel Lopes De Matos added their second.

Alex Read reduced the arrears in the 69th minute, only for Harry Lodovica to restore Kempston`s two-goal lead 4 minutes later.
